Appointments
We offer various appointments within our practice, from GP care to management of long term conditions, women’s health, family planning services, minor surgery and more.
Urgent on the day appointments
GP appointment bookings can be made daily, for urgent on the day care needs, by calling 0191 2734009, from 8:30 am each morning. All on the day appointments will be triaged by the GP, and appropriate appointment, advice, treatment, and/or signposting will be provided.
Routine/Pre-bookable appointments
Routine appointments with GP’s are opened each morning from 8:30 am, they are two weeks in advance from the date booked. Within our GP appointments we offer these as face to face, or via telephone consultation (where clinically appropriate)
Online consultation
Patients can also use eConsultation, filling in a simple online form to get health advice, treatment or administrative help. Find out more here https://holmsidemedicalgroup.webgp.com/
FIT notes
Fit notes should be requested via online consultation, as above. All FIT notes can be back dated if necessary.
Changing or cancelling appointments
If you are unable to attend your appointment please let the practice know, by calling 0191 2734009. Alternatively you can reply CANCEL to your automated appointment reminder text message.
Home Visits
Home visits will be made only when there is a genuine medical inability to get to the surgery.
Home visits will not be carried out for social reasons which include access to transport.
Please telephone before 10.30am except in an emergency, to discuss your home visit request. A GP may return your call to assess the severity and urgency of your need.
Online bookable appointments
We will be opening our appointment booking system, allowing our patients to book appointments through their online services and/or app. Starting with our practice nurses for Cervical Screening, showing as ‘SMEAR only’ appointments. For patients who have received a text message advising they need to book a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) appointment, these appointment are named ‘Annual Review with healthcare Assistant for invited patients ONLY’. Any incorrectly booked appointments will be cancelled.
We are working towards opening more online bookable appointments with other clinicians in our surgery, and will keep our patients updated as and when we can offer this.
